Sometimes Windows’ AutoPlay feature is handy because it tells Windows to automatically carry out a specific action when you plug in removable media such as an SD card, USB drive, or an external CD player. You can adjust the AutoPlay feature to automatically import photos or videos, play media, or do nothing at all.
It’s recommended to leave AutoPlay feature off or have it ask you what to do every time you insert a device.
How to change AutoPlay settings in windows step by step
Go to Start > Settings > Devices > AutoPlay. On the top of the main screen, there’s an On/Off slider that activates or deactivates Autoplay. If you want to open File Explorer yourself, choose Take no action option.
